In these tough times, Israel’s younger generation is at the forefront, serving in the army or aiding evacuees, survivors and farmers. Many of these youth have experienced loss or witnessed friends fall victim to the war’s horrors.
What will come of such a generation after the war’s end? There is hope that these young individuals will return home to construct a completely transformed country and society.
I am optimistic for them. I think that they will strive to establish new connections, bridge gaps in our nation and seek to rise above division. However, it will take dedication, mutual consideration and a strong desire to bring everyone closer together.
I sincerely hope that they can achieve this, surpassing what we, the parents, struggled to accomplish. Indeed, their success in doing so depends also on the support and encouragement we provide them in such a direction.
I thus hope that today’s young generation will indeed bring about meaningful change, altering the landscape of our society for the better.
Moving forward, unity should be first on their list of values. Their guiding light should be the creation of a society that continually increases its unity above the myriad divisive drives that surface within us at any given moment. That is the key to building a new harmonious and peaceful society. If they succeed in this, they will become a major positive force in the world.
