Playing is a natural part of our development that we can exercise in order to attain the reality of what we imagine while we play.
When we are kids, we can take a rope, place it over another kid’s shoulder, and tell them, “You be the horse and I’ll pull the reins,” and then both kids enjoy playing out this fantasy. When we grow up, we largely lose the ability to place ourselves into such games.
Playing, however, grows various abilities in us. As kids, playing develops our language skills, motor skills, creativity and brain functioning. As grownups, while we no longer wish to imagine ourselves as horses and wagon drivers, we would be wise to play another higher game: imagining each other existing in a single harmonious and peaceful globally-interconnected system, and playing out positive human connections of support, encouragement and care of one another. By doing so, we gradually gain new spiritual discernments.
Such a game then acts as a prayer. How is it a prayer? It is that we desire to be in the higher spiritual state of positive human connections that we exercise in our playing. We thus make a certain game with our emotions in order to bring ourselves closer to spiritual actions, and set up a foundation by which we may be granted the ability from above to be able to perform such actions in their true expression.
