Today scientists are excited about new tools, such as molecular scissors, that can cut defective genes and remove hereditary problems. They believe this could prevent illness and even change a person’s character. But I believe we must approach this with great caution. We must critically examine it because diseases themselves are part of nature’s balance. In fact, they serve to heal; not always the individual who might die from them, but humanity as a whole is freed from them.
Just as wolves are the “orderlies” of the forest, keeping the balance by hunting weaker animals, diseases serve the same purpose in humanity. If such problems did not exist, the Earth would be flooded with billions more people, endlessly filling hospitals and homes for the elderly. Nature regulates life and death in its own way, while we try to impose our solutions. But above us there is a higher government, a supreme program of nature that directs everything according to its laws.
All these inventions of science also come from that same natural program. Yet, in truth, we do not understand the full laws of nature, what we are meant to correct ourselves and what nature itself will correct in its own way. If we interfere in one area, other problems will arise elsewhere. We might think that we have rid the world of a disease, but suddenly we face natural disasters, wars, or population collapses. It is because we live in a closed and interconnected system. We heal in one place, and we cripple in another.
So, what would a Kabbalist do? He would not attempt to cut genes with molecular scissors. Instead, he would teach people how to influence the root of life, the root of all problems, and to correct our problems at that level. Why should I rearrange chromosomes or genes when I know in advance that nature will compensate somewhere else? We cannot trick nature. It will always respond. Ultimately, humanity will have to reconstruct itself in alignment with the higher governing force of nature.
A Kabbalist would guide people to reach the highest stage of inner development. From that inner correction, the external health of humanity as well as the harmonious balance of everyone and everything would follow naturally.
