Dr. Michael Laitman To Change the World – Change Man

Why are there 613 commandments in the Torah and only 14 commandments in The Zohar?

It is because The Zohar has a completely different gradation system since each of the 14 key commandments are divided into several more.

It might seem like an overwhelming amount of instructions for us to work with, but they are actually quite simple. All commandments are based on how we can comply with nature’s laws and how we can positively influence nature, society and ourselves.

The commandments are not man-made inventions. They were written by Kabbalists from their attainment of the inner laws and forces of nature. If we wish to adapt ourselves to these laws, we need to conduct ourselves in a certain manner.

Nature’s laws are those of bestowal. Our qualities are the opposite—reception. The commandments are nature’s instructions for how we can navigate desires that surface on inanimate, vegetative and animate levels in balance with the laws of nature.
