How Can a Society Balance Competition Among Individuals Pursuing Success While Still Ensuring That Everyone’s Basic Needs Are Met?

We need to develop a society in which we live to provide ourselves with our life’s essentials, without feeling a need to engage in cutthroat competition in order to climb various ladders of so-called “success.” With the technological advancements we possess today, we should have long transcended this current stage of human development, the vortex we find ourselves in that is filled with universities, endless technological pursuits, and constant competition. Now is the time to bring ourselves to a new state that echoes a more natural and harmonious way of life.

The way so many of us currently invest ourselves into profiting or personally succeeding while we each push each other aside to make space for ourselves, has to reach its end. Instead, we should each engage in what our heart truly desires. Our heart does not want to earn more, nor to climb any seeming success ladder.

Today, we are actually like the aristocrats of old. We already have everything we need. If we take up painting, music, science, or any pursuit, we can do it solely because it brings peace and calm to our spirit. We can engage in such pursuits because our heart gravitates toward them, and not because we are driven to outcompete everyone else and build our own success upon their ruin. This is how it should be. Today, we are fully capable of establishing such a social order.

We can create a society in which no one worries about their life’s essentials. If we organize ourselves optimally, we can provide everyone with food, clothing, healthcare, everything we all need, without falling into a reality of scarcity.

Why should millions of people sit in offices all day? Why should they not sit by musical instruments, write, compose, paint, or engage in discussions and learning together? Why not? What do we truly need in life? What do we really seek?

Ultimately, what we long for is to discover the inner human being within us, and to come closer to the force that guides us all at every moment. It is a force of love, bestowal, and connection that exists behind reality.

We have this goal available to us. There is so much more for us to engage in rather than endlessly producing unnecessary goods, and polluting the earth and the oceans. Now is the time to shift from consumption to connection, from survival to our spiritual realization.

Doing so depends on how we organize our education and upbringing, i.e., the examples that influence us as we develop in our world. By infusing connection-enriching education into our lives more and more, caring that our society will influence us with positive examples of support, encouragement, and care, we can gain the ability to rise above our materialistic, competitive, and individualistic paradigm and rise to a new harmonious and peaceful level of existence.
