Evil rules the world, and we see it clearly. No prohibitions, treaties, or agreements will end the threat of war. Moreover, the idea of eliminating nuclear weapons is completely unrealistic. How can any leaders eliminate them? Do we even know how many countries possess them today? The world is filled with weapons of mass destruction, and they continue to be made.
Why? It is because we cannot restrain egoism, i.e., the desire to receive at the expense of others. Weapons are external expressions of our inner nature. As long as egoism governs us, we will invent new means of domination and destruction ad nauseam. No law or signature on a document can uproot human nature.
What, then, can help? Only a serious hope in the upper force—the positive force of nature—that will gradually sober us up. It needs to lead us to the understanding that there is no other way to make progress in our world except to lay down our arms, not only physical weapons, but the inner weapons of hatred and rejection, and begin building positive human connections.
Humanity stands before entirely new possibilities, but we cannot enter them with the old tools. Not with the old thoughts, old calculations, or with old feelings. Everything we have built so far has been founded on absolute egoism. We need to stop using this foundation.
There is only one real shift humanity can make: to recognize egoism as the true enemy, and to begin seeing others not as rivals, but as friends. That is the beginning of correction. From there, everything else will change.
