Why Does the World Feel So Unstable Right Now?

A key defining characteristic of our era is a lack of orientation, uncertainty, and a loss of control. Even the wealthy among us do not know what tomorrow will bring. Collapse could begin in a flash. In such a volatile reality, we need a new perception in order to survive and to live safely.

Whether we want it or not, our world is changing. Without asking us, it is becoming completely different from what it has been until today. There has always been a clear power pyramid where money, armies, and control over natural resources were defining aspects of those in power. Today, however, we live in an era of increasing interdependence and interconnection globally, which confuses every formula that seemingly worked for us in the past. Also, add to the mix climate change and ecological crises, which also threaten to turn everything upside down.

The world is becoming one large network, and every individual movement affects the whole of humanity. It is impossible to isolate ourselves, thinking that it will protect us from the strong connectivity. Life has closed us in like fish in a net, and the net begins to rise out of the water in a revealed manner.

Ordinary people might be able to ignore the trend, but those standing at the top of the pyramid must delve into it and begin to make adjustments now.

The following are some principles and directions for action.

Broadly speaking, we are in the midst of a new stage in human evolution. We are shifting from a state of linear and egoistic existence, where we each aim to develop ourselves at the expense of others to the best of our respective abilities, to a state of circular and integral existence, like cells in an organism. The code of integral existence is based on connection, reciprocity, and complementarity. All parts together form a balanced and healthy system.

In an integral mechanism, it cannot be that someone will harm others and benefit from it, because we are all on the same plate. This principle will become increasingly clearer to us, not only within the borders of a society or a state, but at the level of humanity as a whole. When we consider the essence of things, we understand that adapting to the reality revealing itself before our very eyes means replacing our mindset entirely, all foundations of the perception of individual and society.

Tomorrow’s world can only be a connected one, and in order to optimally manage ourselves in it, we will need a general social educational-cultural revolution. Its purpose will be to build a feeling of a circle, an integral system, within us, and accordingly also an integral mind and circular vision. This new perception should make us capable of perceiving everything as parts of one picture, and of caring for that connected system’s harmony and flow.

The media, which currently operates on a “divide and conquer” principle, full of gossip and slander, and which continually fuels us with bad examples of violent behavior, can become a quintessential tool for developing the new perception of connection. Through the media, it can become possible to provide every person with integral education, a kind of open university, combined with examples of connection above differences, and exercises of mutual complementary and positive connection.

Regarding owners of organizations and companies in the economy, they will be the quickest to grasp the aforementioned evolutionary trajectory, and they can act within their circles of control accordingly.

It is worth considering that the ecological situation will not let us continually pollute the planet with unnecessary industry, and there will be a need to reduce all non-essential consumption. Therefore, it is necessary to see which of our products and services fall into the non-essential category, and to make a strategic decision to close them. The failure to do so consciously will lead to nature itself doing this to us in ways we will not expect, and then it will become much harder for us to sort through these changes when they hit us unexpectedly.

In this process it is important to keep in mind a guiding principle: we are all connected to one another, and we thus want to relate to each other with consideration, care, and support. Like in a family, it is important for us to bring all employees in our organizations to such a feeling, because this is where evolution leads us. Therefore, it is worthwhile to allocate quality time for developing integral perception within the organization. There is a whole method of connection that is possible to conduct in order to achieve such an adaptation, and we will need to study and practice it.

If we decide to close certain products or services, then we will seek to find other occupations for the employees who worked in those areas within our organization. There could be several ideas in this family-like direction. One, for example, is the combination of the need to allocate time for developing integral perception with the need to find employment and livelihood for all. We can decide together that out of a general concern, we change the job structure in our organization as follows: working for two-thirds of the day, division of tasks among all, and one-third of the day is dedicated to learning and developing integral perception. Moreover, if necessary, we will reduce salaries in the organization by a certain percentage.

In the same token, organizations and companies should also aspire to lower their prices to consumers as much as possible. Of course, it should not be done in ways that will harm the organization, but mainly by shortening the long chain that exists between the organization and the end consumer. It is unnecessary for so many hands along the chain of production to markup profits, raising the end price considerably.

Developing an integral perception in the organization will bring a feeling of deep and positive connection, reciprocity and complementarity. We will see how malfunctions and quarrels decrease, and how the atmosphere among people becomes warmer. Cooperation, efficiency, creativity, innovation, and flow will increase.

We will then all partake in creating a unity that will adapt us to the unity in the great system of nature. Gradually, we will feel how we receive blessing in everything as an integral, unifying, and vitalizing force reveals itself among us like a spring, bringing additional energy, intelligence, and sensation. We will feel satisfaction in our actions, safety, and joy, and we will feel that we have caught the right wave, nature’s very own formula for growth and prosperity: the connection among hearts.
