What would I gain by knowing what will happen to me in a week, a month, a year, or even twenty years? Nothing of real value. In fact, it is much more interesting to live without knowing. The mystery itself gives life its excitement.
When we already know everything, it is like going to the cinema, sitting down, and suddenly realizing that we have already seen the movie. We remember every scene, and it kills the thrill.
That is why I say it is better to live with the attitude that tomorrow is tomorrow, and whatever will happen, will happen. Everything is in the hands of nature, and we should simply move with the flow that nature set up for us. The best state is to know nothing, and still be the master of our lives.
To the extent that we are the master, we act; and to the extent that we are not, we accept. There is no need to pry into what is hidden. We progress according to the rules that nature has set for us so that we can enter into balance with nature. We approach such balance through the exact conditions nature has chosen for us, no more and no less, and in the process of doing so, we have no desire to see further ahead, not even a little. Our greatest desire is to remain a devoted follower of nature’s tracks, walking in the ways that nature has laid out for us. That is actually the greatest reward we can receive in life.
As for hearing someone tell us about our future? No, thank you. We must instead reach balance with nature, which ultimately means acquiring nature’s altruistic quality upon ourselves, to be constantly outward-aimed at the benefit of others and nature, in adhesion with nature’s own life-giving quality.
If, on this path, something seemingly terrible happens, we should not see it as horrible. It depends entirely on how we relate to it. If we accept everything with an open heart, knowing that it comes from nature’s plan in order to advance us to reach a state of total balance with it, a state of eternity and perfection, then whatever happens is right. The moment itself becomes simple, clear, and soft.
Our attitude to nature is what defines it as our source, the quality that created and sustains us. In that, the correct connection between us and nature becomes revealed.
