To hear nature does not mean to hear sounds, but to come into inner closeness with it. If we are close to nature, then we begin to perceive everything that happens around us as a single unified attitude toward us, a guiding force that constantly relates to us. When we reach such perception, nothing appears as negative anymore, even events that previously seemed frightening or painful, up to and including our death. Everything is accepted as part of a complete and purposeful process.
We can live in this state with calmness, warmth, and inner stability. However, to reach it, we need to reveal an inner sense that is currently hidden. What hides it is our egoism, which locks us inside ourselves and keeps us focused only on our own narrow perception. Due to this, we do not feel the broader harmony of nature.
In reality, two forces operate within us: a positive force that connects and harmonizes, and an opposing egoistic force that separates and confines. The difficulty is that we naturally give preference to the egoistic force. It distances us from sensing the unity of nature and prevents us from “hearing” it.
To begin approaching this perception, we should try to penetrate more deeply into the feeling of nature on an internal level. This is what is meant by drawing closer to what Kabbalists call “the Creator.” The Creator is no abstract or distant entity, but everything around and within us. There is no division. Everything we perceive, both outside and inside, belongs to this single governing reality.
Coming closer means dissolving the boundaries in our perception, removing the inner barriers that separate “me” from “the world.” As these boundaries fade, we begin to feel reality differently. It is as if the whole world becomes filled with a subtle harmony, like a quiet, continuous song that underlies everything.
The goal is not simply to survive in this world, but to come into harmony with it. And this harmony is achieved precisely through developing this inner sensitivity, this ability to hear nature.
