Do You Agree That Selfishness Is the Only Driving Force for the Advancement of Human Society?

Competition developed us until about fifty years go. Afterward began the period of bubbles, various egoistic mutations. Today, no one sees anything beyond themselves, and people will do almost anything out of self-interest. This code of behavior brings about crisis in society, the economy, cost of living, division within the state, the international arena, and of course, ecology.

How can we move forward from this point? We need to discover a new resource in order to arrange our lives completely differently as individuals and as a society.

The root of all problems is the contradiction between the growing human ego and the increasingly interconnected and interdependent world. We fight over limited resources and share the same pie. Whether it is money, power, status, or control, the dynamic is one and simple: it is either me or you.

Our world is an aggressive world of force, and the constant search for additional resources lies at the foundation of perception. Our entire approach to life, and everything we think about from one moment to the next, derives from this constant resource pursuit. It makes us compare our status to others, and seek how to improve our position at their expense. Since we are so used to such a perception, we pay no attention to the fact that it drives everything, consciously and subconsciously.

However, in our times, life itself is making us revise our approach. Why? It is because reality locks us into the same boat. Since for the moment people are unable to get along, all the systems we knew stop functioning, in every field and on every level.

We see in our era that countries and organizations once considered powerful reach the brink of collapse, and people who held key positions suddenly lose control. Also, we have been through the reality where financial bubbles burst and many people’s wealth became erased in a single moment from their accounts.

At the same time, the nature surrounding us begins to strike us blow after blow. After we destroyed the environment, consumed the resources of the earth without planning and thought, and polluted the air, water, and soil, now we begin to see the outcomes.

Also, a strange development is taking place in human nature. The young generation is losing the desire to live in such a world, even before they have started the race. Their desire has changed. Nothing familiar attracts them. They look at their parents’ generation and tell themselves that they do not want to live that way. Such an inner exhaustion points to a lack of interest in this gray reality where we are made to run around all the time for a few more zeros in the bank, to enslave ourselves to the status symbols defined by consumer culture, and to choose between constant stress or tranquilizers.

These factors, internal and external together, push toward the birth of a new approach to life, one that will be different in its essence, and which will lead to the next degree of existence of the human species within the great system of nature.

In life’s new approach, there will be a new super-resource that will define how we use all resources we have at present. This resource will be the power of connection, complementarity, and integration. According to this integral power, the new human being will begin to relate anew to others, society, and the environment. He will pass from the egoistic perception that pits him up against others, in battle, to an integral perception that places him as a part of a whole system.

Like organs in one body, like all of nature united, we will build harmony among us. Consideration, responsibility, mutual guarantee, support, help, up to the level of love of one another. We will not leave any person or family without their life’s essentials, and we will care for everyone like in a healthily-functioning family. Our desires to benefit one another will bring countless ideas that will bring goodness to the community, like volunteer initiatives like free classes and activities, resource sharing, and the division of surpluses.

In ancient times people lived cooperatively, compelled by a common survival need. Later, technology developed and the ego alongside it, and each found their niche. Today, after many generations of egoistic development, the world is in great existential danger. It is frightening to imagine what will happen here if ego games lead to nuclear war, for instance. We thus arrive at a decisive point, where we will be required to make a joint scrutiny and decide where we are headed.

The choice we make will determine our fate. For the first time in history, we have the possibility to put reason ahead of emotion, to make a leap. No one wants to connect to others, this is understood, clear, and felt, and even the family unit is breaking apart, and the couple relationship is collapsing. However, there is no choice. Tomorrow’s world can only be a connected one. That is where evolution is pushing us. So let us help one another internalize this tendency, and set out on a perceptual-educational-cultural revolution that will build in us a new ability to positively connect.

Moreover, as integral connection develops, we will discover that it not only saves resources and improves the quality of life, but it is also a unique qualitative development. The network of connection that will be created between open hearts and connected minds will bring about a breakthrough in the limits of perception. We will rise together above time, space, and motion, and we will open for ourselves higher worlds that are full of light and love.
