The cost of living, the level of income, the concern for livelihood, self-worth, much is influenced by how much money we have or do not have. When the American dream shatters into pieces, when people struggle to obtain basic needs, and even when many who have them in abundance live on anti-depressants, we start asking about where life is taking us.

It all begins and ends with values. We live in a world that was shaped by a few wealthy families who wanted to grow richer at everyone else’s expense time and again. They pull the strings from one generation to the next. They crown leaders and define the line of media discourse. They invented consumer culture. We thus rush forward and work hard to check off all the required status symbols in order to show that we are also successful, achieving, and earning.

However, in recent times, a feeling begins to arise that this cannot continue, that we need a fundamental change in our attitude to life. Such a feeling emerges from several directions.

First, nature places a limit on us. The earth’s resources are limited, and there must be an end to excessive consumption, industry, enrichment, and greed at the expense of destroying the environment. When we no longer have enough clean air, water, and food, when we cannot live because of heat waves, when natural blows land on us almost every day, it will already be too late.

Second, the inner nature of man develops. Its expression is in human desires, in what pleasures and interests us. We are made of a desire to enjoy, and it becomes more refined and sophisticated in each successive generation. If once we felt good if we had food to bring home, today even those who achieve great success feel empty inside. Every pleasure fades and excitements become dull. An era of withdrawal, depression, and despair emerges. Nothing truly fills us with the spirit of life.

Third, experts say that within a few years, most of the world’s population will be unnecessary in the labor market, that much work we do will be replaced by computers and robots. This means that we will need to invent new models for supplying the needs of existence for every person and family, and also provide people with occupations. If the public remains idle, without an interest in anything, we will very quickly reach a total collapse in the family unit, in society, and in the state.

If we add the ego’s intensification in every person to this picture, alongside the increasing connectivity and dependence between everyone, we will receive a sure recipe for explosion. On the global level this could ignite a world war, which is nuclear and cyber, and who knows what else is brewing around the world.

However, precisely out of the great darkness that approaches with giant steps, a morning of a new day can also be born. It depends on our ability to understand where the evolutionary forces are aimed, and to adapt ourselves to that evolutionary direction in advance. As it is said, a wise person has their eyes in their head.

The nature that surrounds us functions as an integral system, with interconnection and interdependence among its parts, completing the tapestry of life in wonderful mutuality. The evolution of man and the world must also continue similarly. If until today, we sanctified personal success, the new conditions will force us to raise the value of collective success.

Tomorrow’s human being can only be a connected one who feels himself as part of one body, and acts in harmony with its other organs. From here will come warmth, support, vitality, joy, and spiritual development and happiness in the soul. Money will also acquire a new and fitting definition, and will be defined as the ability to fulfill ours and society’s desires. The expansion of the narrow boundaries of perception will make us all rich, because there will be a flow between us, and adaptation to the integral code in nature will bring balance and calm.

Therefore, our next task as a human species is to build a deep connection among everyone, up to the level of “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This is the most important field of research and development, and there is full-time work in this for all of us. The challenge is immense, and it is the order of the day. Let us hope we will have the heart and mind to grasp the picture.
