Dr. Michael Laitman To Change the World – Change Man

What Is It Like Living Each Day as If It Is the Last Day?

What if I could wake up every morning and say, “I have only today. I want to live it as though it were my last day”?

This is a correct approach to life because our true opportunity to act exists only in the present moment.

But what should we do with that moment?

We should think about how we can improve the world.

At first, this may sound strange because we usually ask about how to live our own life fully, and suddenly we begin speaking about the whole world. However, this is precisely where the purpose of our lives is found. We were born in order to participate in improving the world.

And what does it mean to improve the world?

It means to bring about postive relations between people.

Nothing more complicated than that is required.

A person should try to maintain the thought that the world can become better and desire that people relate to one another with goodness. By thinking positively about the world and wishing for better human relationships, we already participate in changing it.

This is our responsibility.

We usually postpone life. We think that tomorrow we will make an important decision, change something, become different, or finally do what we know should be done. But if I truly understand that I have only today, then there is no reason to wait.

Everything must be done now.

Where, then, is our “I”? Where is the point at which we actually exist and exercise our personal decision?

It is right now.

Our “I” does not exist somewhere in yesterday or tomorrow. It exists in the present moment, at the point where we can decide: “Now. Only now.”

If we miss that point and let ourselves get carried away by thoughts of what was or what might be, then we am not truly present in our lives.

Can an ordinary person really live this way? Can we rise above our usual calculations and begin living for the sake of improving the world?

Yes. We have to discuss this more and more. Thoughts and desires do not simply disappear. They enter the common atmosphere between us and influence others. Therefore, even the desire for humanity to reach better relationships has significance.

We do not need extraordinary abilities to begin.

If you want to live your life as though you have only one chance, then constantly think about how the world can become better.

Do not wait for tomorrow.

Your opportunity is now.

And the direction is very simple: wish for good relations between people.

That is where your life, your choice, and your “I” truly exist.
