Dr. Michael Laitman To Change the World – Change Man

Can Natural Forces Influence Our Ultimate Fates, or Are We Solely Responsible for Our Destinies?

Does nature have a plan for us and, if so, how can we discover where it is leading us? The answer is that nature is guiding each and every one of us to the realization that we have the ability to influence and shape our own future.

The future is not fixed. It does not simply happen to us. It depends on our participation in it.

Most people do not trust that they possess any special power to affect their destiny. They assume that life unfolds according to circumstances beyond their control. Yet nature has given each of us a unique opportunity: the ability to consciously participate in our own development.

To do so, we need to first develop a desire to understand how our actions, thoughts, and intentions influence the future. Nature does not hand us a finished picture. Instead, it provides us with laws, principles, and conditions, much like a construction set. Using these laws, we are meant to build our future ourselves.

The central law of nature is actually quite simple. It is the law of correspondence with nature itself. Nature operates according to principles of love, bestowal, connection, and mutual complementarity. Everything in the natural system tends toward greater integration and harmony. The ultimate state of creation is one in which all parts are connected in a perfect and balanced whole.

Therefore, the direction of human development is also clear. We need to aspire for greater connection, mutual understanding, and participation in the common system of humanity. There is no higher goal than becoming aligned with this fundamental law.

This does not mean struggling against the world or attempting to force others to change. The real struggle is internal. We need to work against our very egoistic nature, which constantly separates us from others and places our personal interests above the good of the whole. This inner “place” is the true battlefield.

For this reason, there is no point in blaming external circumstances or other people. The work begins and ends within ourselves. By changing our attitude, intentions, and relationship to others, we bring ourselves into greater alignment with nature’s law.

If we each aim our efforts at correcting ourselves instead of correcting others, humanity could completely transform its future. The future is not predetermined in a rigid way. To the extent that we desire to change ourselves and align with nature’s principle of love and connection, we gain the ability to shape the world we will live in.
