Living only for yourself solves nothing. If each person lives only for themselves, then what? We will still die, and everyone will forget everyone. That is the nature of this world. One generation remembers, the next forgets, and after that there is nothing left of a person.
The conclusion is that we cannot live either for ourselves or even for others, because we are all mortal and destined to perish. The only place we can truly live is in our connection with the source force of our lives, the very force of love, bestowal, and connection that created and sustains us.
This is why we all exist. It is not to be remembered, to gather praise, or to accumulate some earthly legacy, but to use everything around us as a means of drawing closer to the source force of our lives.
Therefore, to rise to another level of existence where we can truly live and feel an eternal and perfect sense of life, we should not live “in” others, but “through” others in order to connect with the eternal and perfect force of love and bestowal. While our bodies are temporary, and even the people we can develop care toward are transient, but the act of caring for them brings us into contact with eternity and perfection. Others and the entire world are given as a field in which we operate, and through that activity we approach the eternal and perfect force of love, bestowal, and connection.
Everything in our world is fleeting except the ever-increasing closeness with the source force of our lives. And what does it mean to draw closer to that force? It means entering a state of constant care for others, feeling that mutual responsibility and love and eternal qualities, and instead of living for ourselves, forgetting about ourselves and thinking only about others.
If we can forget about ourselves completely and think solely about others, with no calculations or thoughts about “what will I get out of this?” then in that very moment, we enter eternity. Then, our reward is that very feeling of eternity itself, experienced inside love for the other.
This is no fantasy. We cannot feel eternity when we live inside ourselves. By directing ourselves at others, the sensation of eternity will open. We will feel that time disappears, and that only the feeling of existence in the other remains.
What, then, is the force of love, bestowal, and connection? It is a force of absolute care for the other, one of pure, unconditional love. Everything around us, including the most tragic situations of wars, illnesses, and various forms of suffering, is all given to bring us to this awareness. Without the contrast of the evil inclination, i.e., the egoistic calculation of wishing to only live for oneself at the expense of others and nature, then we could not experience goodness. Without darkness and suffering, we cannot sense light and pleasure.
We thus need to pass through negative egoistic states in order to feel the goodness above them. This is the task of the human being: to rise above all the evil, suffering, and ego, and by doing so, to discover the goodness, eternity, and perfection of nature, i.e., of the source force of love, bestowal, and connection.
