The principle of “Love your neighbor as yourself” is not simply a beautiful idea or moral instruction. It is the only gate through which humanity can enter its corrected state, i.e., a state where we enjoy a harmonious, peaceful, eternal, and whole life above our divisive egoistic drives, in a wondrous connection to each other.
However, we do not immediately see this gate. We search everywhere else, trying countless paths, substitutes, and solutions, believing fulfillment can be found in personal success, power, knowledge, wealth, or even just simple pleasures. Eventually, however, after many disappointments, we discover that none of these transient pleasure sources can provide lasting solutions.
The gate was there all along, but we could not see it because we had not yet exhausted all the alternatives. What is missing is disappointment, not partial disappointment, but disappointment in every egoistic attempt to find fulfillment. Only when we realize that all other roads lead to emptiness do we become capable of seeing the one true entrance.
This is why our wanderings are necessary. We need to reach a state where only one possibility remains, that of connection. Such connection is true adhesion and genuine brotherhood.
Brotherhood means that all people exist within a single desire and intention. It is a state of complete inner fusion, where everyone is connected to everyone else. Humanity returns to the original system called “Adam HaRishon,” becoming like “one man with one heart,” i.e., a completely connected single body. This is the future state that nature is leading us to.
This vision must stand before us as something obvious, achievable, and necessary. All the disappointments, crises, and dead ends we experience are not punishments. They are preparations. They gradually reveal to us that there is nowhere else to run and nothing else to attain except a genuine connection with each other and, through that connection, adhesion with the source force of our lives, the upper force of love and bestowal that we call “the Creator.”
That is precisely why all our wanderings are needed, to bring us to this state.
