How Should Companies Adapt Their Strategies as They Plan for the Future?

When the world is fragile and constantly changing, when markets are unstable and the future is unclear, it becomes very difficult for businesses, organizations, and companies to plan strategy.

To succeed under the new interconnected and interdependent conditions that the world continually evolves into, it is necessary to understand the overall direction in which we develop. If we keep the evolutionary picture before our eyes, we will be able to decipher the changes that people are undergoing today and identify what needs people will soon have. In this area, what was in the past will not be what will be in the future. We are changing.

So what do we see in the markets? First of all, the public is saturated. People are bored with new products and tired of advertisements and marketers. And in a reality where AI serves to exponentially increase that saturation, what will we be able to offer people?

In addition, we see that the world is becoming more and more interconnected on financial, medical, and ecological scales, and in many other ways. Countless channels and lines of connection create mutual dependence among everyone at increasingly higher levels. It is as if the great system of nature holds up a mirror to humanity and says, “Look, you are all in the same boat.”

From this point forward, the choice becomes to either resist the connectivity that is being revealed and continue to see only our own interests, which will ultimately end in a terrible war, or to consciously advance to a broad integral perception. Organizations that choose the second option will move forward rapidly. Organizations that do not will find themselves collapsing.

Adapting ourselves to the emerging integral reality means providing the world with products and services that support integral connections between people, sectors, organizations, and countries, i.e., connections based on unity, reciprocity, and complementarity.

The central need that will drive markets and the consumer public of tomorrow will be the need for positive human connection. This is what will fulfill people deeply inside. The greatest pleasures, satisfactions, and excitements will come from a warm and mutually contributive connection with the general network of relationships.

People will understand that their health, mood, sense of happiness, and self-fulfillment all depend on the quality of their relationships with others. Whereas in the past people could still fulfill themselves through personal achievements, that era is ending. In the integral age, fulfillment will come only from positive human connections.

Imagine a network of pipes. The number of correct connections between the pipes determines how much abundance flows through the network from one place to another. The same will happen in the future society. The measurement of success in an interconnected network will be by our openness and willingness to give to others and receive from them.

A successful person or organization will be described as being at the center of the network, because they are connected to everyone, connecting everyone, giving to others and receiving from them. They include everyone and are included within everyone. The new measure by which a person’s value will be evaluated in the future will be determined by the degree of their openness with others, in both directions.

Everything organizations will do in the future world, whether in industry, commerce, economics, technology, culture, or education, will be aimed at supporting this “system of pipes,” with the goal of creating an open, complete, and connected network of relationships.

To succeed in the interconnected world, organizations will have to adopt this integral approach. However, a CEO cannot simply issue a sudden order such as, “From today we are an integral organization.” It is a gradual process that requires investment over time.

Every manager and employee in the organization will need to undergo a process of developing awareness until eventually the relationships between them become integral. Only when the employees of the organization feel sufficiently close to one another and connected in the right way will they themselves become suited to the new world. Then, as a result of the inner change they undergo, new integral ideas will begin to emerge, and together they will sense what their organization can offer the public to improve people’s lives.

In other words, working on developing this integral approach will sharpen the vision of the people in the organization and clarify what new directions should be developed and which products and services they should bring to the market. A friendly approach toward the world will strengthen and improve the quality of human relationships, and from this new awareness they will begin developing products and services for the benefit of the public.

It is similar to a loving mother who looks at her baby and thinks: what would be good for the baby now? What can I do for them? Indeed, a revolution in perception stands before us. The wheels of evolution are driving us forward into a world that will be like one family.
