Taking LSD is not a solution to any problem. It is simply a disconnection from reality. It is not a conscious correction of oneself within society, where a person becomes a useful member, expressing care and love toward others, like a mother toward her children, and where everyone relates to one another in the same warm and responsible way. Such relationships are what characterize the society of the future.
Those who take LSD, however, detach themselves from reality without connecting to anyone. They do not seek even the smallest contact with others. Instead, they enjoy drifting inside rosy visions and inner sensations that have no true connection to life.
Kabbalah speaks about something completely different: a real path of correcting a person, where one learns to control oneself and acquires inner screens, i.e., forces that let us rise above egoism in all its measures. This path is carried out specifically in connection with companions, where together you go into battle against your own nature. It is the exact opposite of solitary floating and abstract inner excitement.
There is no connection between Kabbalah and LSD because one is inner work and correction, while the other is merely chemistry. You can inject anyone with a drug and they will “float,” but nothing in their nature changes. He returns to the same world, the same egoism, and the same emptiness. They might say how good they felt, and that they had all kinds of unique insights, but what did they correct? What did they transform?
We are not meant to escape work on ourselves with drugs. We need to change our egoistic nature and enter into balance with the positive, altruistic force in nature, rising above egoism into the qualities of giving and love, into an optimal mutual engagement with others. By doing so, we discover eternity, perfection, and the upper world.
This does not cancel our earthly life. We continue to live normally, i.e., we work, raise children, and fulfill responsibilities, and together with those motions we simultaneously sense a higher level of existence. We live on two levels at once. Externally we behave as normal human beings, not shouting slogans about love, but internally we work to bring others closer to the quality of bestowal, to the correct interaction of humanity as a single organism. I have never seen or heard that those who take LSD strive for such correction.
